The Rebel Role
As a Nocturnal Night Auditor, you are the night-time Guest Services Agent and you look after guest services, bookkeeping, security, and so many other things.

You are a night-owl who loves to be awake and alive while the world is sleeping.
You are our first impression for guests checking in late at night and the lasting impression for early departures.
You greet each guest with a smile and manage guest complaints about noise, room conditions, or anything else we can help them with.

What You'll Do

As a 2nd Cook you rock the execution of all food menu items accurately, efficiently and consistently. You work cohesively with the culinary team to make sure the food coming out of the kitchen is exactly what it should be. The role also includes:

Managing food quality, portion control and plate presentation through 100% recipe adherence
Compliancy with all safe food handling, Health & Safety and Food Safe BC requirements
Complete understanding of F.I.F.O. and product yield
Following standards of cleanliness, timing, organization, production, food quality, and consistency through completion of operational checklists
Maintaining the work area, including all counter tops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition in accordance with Health & Safety regulations
Ensure all products are prepared, held, and served at correct temperatures and correct visual appearance

Creative, energetic, with good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays

Own our 4 branded websites(AccentInns.com, HotelZed.com. RoarTofino.com andJoinOurFamJam.com) developing,maintaining, andoptimizing to ensure high performance, responsive design, and positive user experience (UX)

Lead front-end and back-end development, managing content managementsystemslike WordPress and overseeing site architecture

Handle technical setups for digital marketing, including DNS, domain management, API integrations, and trackingtechnology (GoogleTag Manager, GA4)

Oversee the content management strategy for web properties and ensure compliance with accessibility standards and data protection regulations

Work with other Marketing team members to develop end-to-end digital marketing campaigns (SEO/SEM, AEO, paid search, social media, email) to enhance reputation and increase guest recruitment

Through hands-on leadership and close collaboration with Front Desk, Maintenance, ROAR and the Staff Accommodation Manager, this roledriveshousekeeping efficiencywhile ensuring guests and teammembers feel cared for, and proud of the spaces they share.

In your first 3 months, you will…

Spend time with your team, working in rooms with them to learn our standards and processes

Sit down and meet with each member of your team to learn more about their story and goals

Learn the ins and outs of our hotel, how it is currently being run, systems and processes with an eye to identify gaps and areas of improvement

Build relationships with the leadership team in Tofino including the Resort General Manager, Assistant Manager, Staff Accommodation Manager, Front Desk Supervisor, and the ROAR Tofino restaurant leadership team

Take ownership of scheduling and managing your team

Meet with People & Culture (P&C) to understand your responsibilities around performance management, leadership, HR procedures and P&C programs and benefits.

Begin to champion the Pickle Program (our internal recognition program) with the team.

Learn our process for hiring and interviewing, support the RGM with all recruitment needs for the housekeeping department

Become an expert in our productivity and efficiency systems, coaching and training your team

Get on top of supplies ordering and inventory management, and storage and organization of housekeeping spaces.

In your first 12 months, you will…

Know your team inside and out, able to identify key players for future development

Take ownership of recruitment, onboarding, and training for your department

Build and foster trusting relationships with your team across all departments

Champion our internal recognition program and see an increase in Pickles being awarded across your team

Understand and own the financial standing of your department and be able to confidently speak to the financials with your GM and Finance

Ensure robust Health and Safety procedures are followed and championed with the team.

Provide ongoing training, coaching and development for all team members and help them find paths to sustainable success.

Develop a routine of frequent room checks to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and that our building and guest rooms are in outstanding working condition.

What the Role is Quacked Up to Be

Reporting to our VP of People and Culture, you will be our driving force for learning and development across the company. You will work closely with P&C, our Operations team, and the Misfits (a team of frontline leaders) to create new training programs for our departments across all properties. You will work alongside People & Culture, Operations, and our external executive coach to build the L&D roadmap to address training and leadership programs for our frontline teams and Rebel Base (head office) teams. This is not an executive coaching role.

In your first 3 months, you will…

Work closely with Noah, our VP of People and Culture, to understand the current state of our L&D programs.

Meet with department leaders to understand how their teams have historically used the L&D programs and to gather any feedback.

Work with the Misfits (internal frontline leadership team) to understand their current needs and what the future holds.

Review administrative tasks, catering needs and event planning checklists to better understand planning requirements for specific programs.

Take over our Emerging Leaders program with Noah to create a plan for our next cohort.

Run through our Leading with Love program with Ross Gilchrist to understand the methodology behind how we lead at Accent Inns/Hotel Zed/ROAR

Run through all L&D programs and the current roadmap to identify our needs and priorities for the future.

Start travelling to our various properties to meet the teams and managers at each location.

In your first 12 months, you will…

Have run a successful Emerging Leaders cohort from start to finish.

Have developed new training programs for our hotels (i.e. Front Desk Training)

Have a successful partnership with the Operations team to develop new programs to help standardize processes and training across all our properties.

Have frameworks and processes in place to manage all L&D programs efficiently and effectively

Be the champion at Accent/Hotel Zed/ROAR for L&D and continuous improvement of our people and teams.

Have developed a new L&D roadmap with input from key stakeholders that will drive the future of L&D

Own and develop an L&D dashboard to track the impact and effectiveness of L&D programming

Partnered with the Care Bears (our executive team) to develop new programs to address Change Management and New Manager training.

Be the subject matter expert on all things L&D for our people.

Have built relationships across all of our hotels and teams, from front desk and room attendants to General Managers and our Care Bears.

This exciting role will help shape how our culture and learning environment evolve at Accent Inns/Hotel Zed/ROAR. This role partners closely with multiple departments across all business functions and properties. Communication, alignment and developing close relationships with key stakeholders will be key in ensuring the success of this role. You will spend 40-60% of your time travelling to our various locations throughout the year to facilitate workshops. You will have time to work with our executive coach Ross, who brings decades of experience to leadership development and coaching. This role requires someone who can facilitate workshops and develop them alongside subject matter experts.

What to expect

Application: We do our best to review all applications within 3 weeks (15 business days) and will respond to all applicants. No ghosting here!

First Interview (45min): You will meet with Laura, our HR Business Partner, to have an initial call to discuss your experience and answer your questions about Accent Inns/Hotel Zed/ROAR.

Second Interview (60min): Meet Tori, our Operations Manager, and Noah, our VP of People and Culture, to discuss your technical expertise, what the role will look like long term, and answer more of your questions.

Take-Home Project (2-3 hours): You will be asked to create a 30-minute training workshop on something you are passionate about and can train a panel of folks to do in a boardroom. You will receive more details and instructions after your second interview. You will be compensated for your time working on this project.

Final Interview (60min): Execute the training workshop that you developed. You will have 30 minutes to teach 4 individuals something you are passionate about. This interview will be broken into two sections. 30 minutes for teaching and 30 minutes for questions.
